Interesting but ultimately counter-productive idea from Microsoft, having a browser-based demo of the Windows Phone UI ( m.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-us/demo/ ). I can see the attraction of this, and it’s very well done, but this can only be bad for Microsoft for a number of reasons:

– You still see all the browser chrome (so the UI appears confusing and ugly)
– The demo is very limited in it’s scope (basically you are guided what to press)
– It obviously doesn’t represent the feel of the hardware (which is critical to the appeal of any phone)
– It’s impossible to accurately replicate all of the intricacies of a native UE in a browser

Seems to be wholly counterproductive – many users will come away thinking WIndows Phone is an ugly, confusing, limited, unrefined OS. Microsoft would have been better just posting a few screenshots or a video.
