I think it’s really overstating it to say that Windows is a liability on tablets. That may be true from an impartial usability viewpoint, but to a sizeable number of prospective purchasers who have used a flavour of Windows previously, its a reassurance against the worries of a new, potentially incompatible system. However, iPad has such a dominant lead in mindshare and marketshare that this sort of comparison will have very limited impact – if a user is swayed by the Windows familiarity argument they’re just as likely to be swayed in the other direction by the momentum of iPad:
