Great move for HP – no longer just a hardware manufacturer, they can now access the value locked-up in the services Eco-system.
Bad day for Microsoft – another competitor to it’s cash-cow, Windows. It will be a long time before Web OS has much impact on Microsoft, but combine WebOS selling across most HP devices, OS X growth showing no slowdown, and Android and iOS eating up the mobile and tablet market, and Microsoft are looking vulnerable. Warning message for Nokia – don’t surrender your own OS. A tie-up with Microsoft may buy a few short-term sales, but long-term you need your own OS to differentiate yourself and access services revenue. Just ask HP. http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/hp-snubs-windows-plans-to-integrate-webos…
