Of course he’s right – these companies are a threat, but I’m not sure that the threat is as big as claimed – think back to the 90’s where it seemed everyone had their own walled-garden (Compuserve, AOL, MSN etc etc). People were happy to use those services but not at the exclusion of the ‘free’ web. Ultimately the web won.

Net neutrality however, is a real threat to the ubiquity of the internet. I’d rate that as a much bigger issue.
