Strong words but it really does feel like Google have done a ‘bait-and-switch’ here.

It all comes back to the fact that if you don’t own your own OS, or rely on someone else’s API or business model, you don’t own a potentially significant chunk of you’re business. And you have little opportunity to differentiate and avoid getting trapped in a race to the lowest price-point.

That’s ok as long as everyone is honest about it.

As i’ve said before, Apple understand this. RIM get it. HP get it.

Nokia have forgotten this and may well rue the day they gave up on their own platform.

And the myriad of manufacturers who have adopted Android have a front-row seat to watch this in action.
