Interesting article. Things like net neutrality and monopolistic proprietary systems (previous post) are hugely important, but don’t mean anything to the average consumer. They just want the best product at the best price.

Apple has dominance in some markets but certainly not in others. They build a great UE and people buy into it. I don’t doubt that most companies dream of being monopolies, but I don’t fear Apple as much as I fear Google (and Facebook). Apple’s main concern is profit, not market share – being the cheapest is a dead-end strategy. Google and Facebook are in a long-term land-grab with the ultimate aim of dominating a market for their strategic gain. Profit now is not their main driver.
